Letter from the Chair
Dear Fellow Democrats,
We are facing significant challenges in Florida and across the nation that threaten our rights and freedoms. In Tallahassee, legislators are working to take away our right to amend our constitution, restrict voting and Vote-By-Mail, and pass laws that make us less safe and strip away our rights. Nationwide, there are actions that will leave us poorer and more divided.
At the core is a choice: protect our democracy or slide toward autocracy, where power belongs to a few. History shows us this fight is not new — and it’s more important than ever.
There’s no single way to stand up for what we believe in. Every action matters. Whether it’s joining a peaceful protest or economic boycott, making our opinions heard through our Action Alerts, writing to the newspaper, making phone calls to your representative, being a friend, or even just holding on during hard times — it all counts. No effort is too small, and every voice matters. Together, we are the shield that protects our democracy. We are a nation governed by the consent of the people — not ruled by a dictator.
This is one of the most important fights of our time. Our strength lies in unity. Stay engaged. Florida, our country, and future generations depend on us..
If you’re still reading this, thank you. I see you, and I’m grateful. I stand with you. If you’re feeling tired, it’s okay to take a break. Resting isn’t giving up — it’s part of staying strong. But promise yourself you’ll come back, because we can’t win this without you.
When you’re ready to jump back in, check out CollierDems.org or visit Mobilize.us to find ways you can help. Join us. Find your way to make a difference. The fight is ongoing — and your action is needed now more than ever.
Together, we are capable of victory.

The Florida legislative session runs through May 2, 2025
Our Legislative Action team is monitoring bills coming up for a vote during the session, and letting our Action Alert subscribers know the facts and how to take action.
So far this session, we’ve sent Action Alerts on the following topics:
- Oppose egregious restrictions on new amendment ballot petitions (on the April 3 calendar)
- Oppose new Vote by Mail restrictions (currently in House subcommittee)
- Oppose reducing the age to purchase firearms (House passed March 26 ☹️)
