Join the National John Lewis Day of Action – “Good Trouble Lives On”

On Thursday, July 17, Naples will join communities across the country for “Good Trouble Lives On”—a national day of action to honor the legacy of Congressman John Lewis and push back against growing attacks on our democracy and our civil rights.

Here in Naples, Florida, we’ll gather at the Collier County Courthouse for a rally and short march to the streets. The event will feature local speakersvoter registrationvolunteer sign-ups, and a food drive supporting our local food bank (food donations can be dropped off starting at 6:00 PM).

This event is hosted by 50501 Collier County and co-hosted by F.R.E.E. Indivisible SWFL.

Together, we’ll raise our voices to demand a democracy where everyone—Black, Brown, white, immigrant, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and working people—can be heard and live with dignity.

Why Now?

Twelve years after the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act in Shelby County v. Holder, we are witnessing one of the most aggressive rollbacks of civil rights in decades. Laws are being passed that restrict voting, criminalize protest, slash healthcare, and target Black, Brown, immigrant, and LGBTQ+ communities.

Congressman John Lewis reminded us that we don’t wait for permission to fight injustice. Change comes when we come together and make good trouble, necessary trouble.

What to Expect:

  •  Local guest speakers
  •  Voter registration and vote-by-mail sign-ups
  •  Volunteer sign-up opportunities
