Dear Governor DeSantis, Senator Passidomo and Representatives Benarroch, Melo and Botana,

I am a Collier County Florida resident and registered voter.

I am writing to urge you not to move forward with redistricting at this time.

Florida’s current district maps are based on the official 2020 census, as required. While our state continues to grow and change, population shifts alone do not justify redrawing maps outside the normal census cycle.

Mid-decade redistricting raises serious concerns about fairness and risks undermining the intent of the Fair Districts Amendments, which were approved by Florida voters to prevent partisan manipulation of district lines.

Redrawing maps now would also create unnecessary instability and could lead to costly and prolonged legal challenges.

I respectfully ask that you maintain the current district maps until the next decennial census in 2030, when new data will provide the appropriate and constitutionally grounded basis for redistricting.

Please focus instead on the issues that most directly impact Floridians’ daily lives, including the rising cost of groceries, insurance, and utilities.
