From the Florida Democratic Party
Three scandals are already engulfing Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s campaign for U.S. Senate:
New reports are shedding light on Scott’s secret financial account, which he used as governor to hide his conflicts of interest and enrich himself. Now that he’s a Senate candidate, when will Scott comply with federal rules that require him to reveal the details of his account?
The Miami Herald and AP wrote that Scott is fighting a lawsuit to compel disclosure of this secret financial account under state rules. If Scott has nothing to hide, why won’t he agree to reveal the account?
The group End Citizens United has filed anFlorida Election Commission complaint against Scott for illegal coordination with his Super PAC. President Trump said what Scott did was “breaking the law.” Does Scott agree with Trump?
Moments after Scott announced his campaign, the Florida Democratic Party released a digital clock, tracking the amount of time since Scott refused to reveal the details of his secret financial account. More information about Scott’s record on this and other issues is available at SelfServingScott.com.
From Sebastian Kitchen, Florida Democratic Party Spokesman: “Three days into his campaign, Scott is already under fire for the same sort of dishonesty and self-serving politics that have defined his entire career. There is no reason Scott should not immediately disclose his finances and reveal how he used his position as governor to make himself $46 million richer – while driving wages in cities like Jacksonville to the bottom of the nation. Floridians know that Scott can’t be trusted to look out for anyone but himself, but now that he’s running for Senate Scott should stop hiding, stalling and trying to cover up the truth to benefit his political ambitions.”
