The South Florida Sun Sentinel has endorsed Maureen Porras in the Democratic primary for Florida House District 105.
The Sun Sentinel believes that Maureen would give Democrats the best chance to flip District 105. The Sun Sentinel stated that Maureen’s “practical experience is a unique asset” that could help efforts in the Florida Legislature to reform the criminal justice system.
Broward County Commissioner Nan Rich — who also served 12 years in the Florida Legislature — is also backing Porras in the House District 105 Democratic primary. Rich said, “it takes a strong and thoughtful leader to make a real difference and Maureen has the necessary skills, experience, and background to represent us all in Tallahassee. She has shown a commitment to helping families and understands the issues so many Floridians are facing. I am proud to stand with Maureen Porras for District 105.”
The Sun Sentinel’s and Senator Rich’s endorsements are the latest in a growing list of both elected officials and organizations to support Porras’s candidacy for District 105. The list also includes: Florida State Senators Annette Taddeo and Oscar Braynon, former State Representative Sean Shaw, Broward County Commissioner and former Mayor Dr. Barbara Sharief, EMILY’s List, Ruth’s List Florida, VoteWater.org, Moms Demand Action, and Women’s March Broward.
