This is Eric Holder and I have something to share with you, Florida Democrats.
I’ve been closely watching what’s happening in Florida, and it’s clear that the governor and the president are determined to suppress the vote. Whether it’s making it harder for people who have paid their debt to society to cast a ballot or planning for voter intimidation at the polls, they’re clearly worried about having a fair vote. Yet even in the face of these obstacles and attempts at voter disenfranchisement, you have been resilient — the Florida Democratic Party has enrolled more than 2.2 million Democrats into the state’s vote-by-mail program.
This fall’s elections aren’t just the most important of our lifetimes because of who is at the top of the ballot. It’s also crucial because of the down-ballot races taking place across the country that will determine who controls state legislatures during the redistricting process. And if we want our elections to be fair for the next decade, we have to end gerrymandering now.
