Sara McFadden, the Democratic candidate for state House District 106, has received a handful of endorsements, including from the AFL-CIO, Florida Planned Parenthood, the Democratic Women’s Club of Florida, and the Democratic Party Progressive Caucus of Florida.
“The Southwest Chapter South Florida AFL-CIO and the Florida AFL-CIO are proud to endorse Sara McFadden for Florida State Representative in House District 106,” said Richard Jones, president of the Southwest Chapter South Florida AFL-CIO. “At a crucial time for organized labor, which is under unprecedented attack, we believe Sara McFadden will be an effective voice for better pay and benefits for everyday Southwest Floridians, their families and their communities. Sara McFadden has the full support of Florida’s working families.”
In response, McFadden said, “I am gratified to have the support of working families in Florida and humbled to accept this endorsement by the Florida AFL-CIO. I am determined to give Florida’s workers a voice, and fight for their rights and protections under the law.”
Planned Parenthood, in its endorsement message, said, “We are thrilled to announce that you have received the endorsement of the Florida Planned Parenthood PAC. You have been a strong supporter of reproductive health and we know you will continue to be a dedicated advocate.”
“As a candidate, in a race against a conservative backed by the Koch Bros and rated 93 percent by the NRA, your organization’s endorsement means a lot,” McFadden said in a letter to Planned Parenthood. “No Democrat has run for office in my race since 1978, but we are working hard and gaining momentum daily. We’ve actually been ahead with “cash on hand” for the last two reporting periods! Come November this seat is going to FLIP! This endorsement is going to help us get there.”
And both the Democratic Women’s Club of Florida and the progressive Caucus added Sara McFadden to their list of candidates they have endorsed for the 2018 election.
