From the David Turrubiartez Campaign
We’ve seen during the past four years developers constructing large communities with no regard to the public outcry against senseless building.
For years, Smart Growth has been the recommendation, not requirement, to developers in Collier County.
“That changes with this election”, says David Turrubiartez, candidate for Collier County Commission. “We must change the mindset of developers from investing in housing to investing in communities.”
Turrubiartez would like to see more development in existing communities before building on undeveloped land.
“We must lay a solid foundation taking care of current residents before inviting more in. We need a range of changes from walkable neighborhoods, variety of housing opportunities for different income levels, preservation of open space, and more.”
By following a Smart Growth strategy, “we can begin to hold developers accountable,” he said.
