Election of officers and new board members for the Collier County Democratic Club will take place at the March meeting.
WHERE: The offices of the Collier County Education Association, 6710 Lone Oak, Blvd, Naples.
WHEN: Meeting begins with a social gathering at 6 p.m. on March 18 and the business meeting — the election — starts at 6:30 p.m.
At the election, eligible members will be voting for a new club president, secretary, parliamentarian and new board members. At the Feb. 18 meeting, the Nominating Committee presented its roster of candidates to the membership:
President: Jennifer Boddicker
Secretary: Myrlande Desir
Parliamentarian: Dorothy Demarest (incumbent)
New board members: Ken Marks and Sandy Bruce
Additionally, Erika Ferrari was nominated for president from the floor by a member.
So, as it stands, when the election takes place, the only contested seat for will be for president to replace Greg Gargan, who is stepping down.
Jennifer Boddicker was the Democratic candidate for state House in District 80 in 2018. Erika Ferrari was elected vice president of the CCDC last year.
To be eligible to vote you must be a member in good standing and have paid your annual dues by Feb. 1. The club’s bylaws require that members join or renew 45 days before an election to be eligible to vote. There are no proxy ballots allowed by club rules, so, please, if you are a CCDC member, put March 18 on your calendar.
