Today we mark with sadness the anniversary of the September 11 attacks on America.
It serves as a somber reminder of the need for vigilance to protect ourselves from threats, both external and internal. Our security requires strong, mature, well-balanced and intelligent leadership.
Which is why your vote this year is so important. If you haven’t done so already, please request your vote-by-mail ballot. And vote.
Around the country, ceremonies will mark the occasion today.
In New York City, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden Joe Biden will attend a scaled-down 9/11 commemoration ceremony in downtown Manhattan, drawing a contrast with President Trump who’s staying away from New York for the anniversary. Biden will take part in the ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum with his wife, Jill Biden. In the afternoon, Biden and his wife will travel to Shanksville, Pa., for a ceremony honoring the victims of Flight 93.
In Florida, State Democratic Party Chair Terrie Rizzo offered these comments:
“We will never forget the heroes that came to the rescue of strangers, sacrificing their own lives for their fellow Americans. We will never forget how our nation came together in the days following. We will never forget how our nation rebuilt.
“We will never forget the lives lost on September 11, 2001. Today is a day we remember our heroes and think of those who were impacted most by the deadliest terror attack in history.”
